骆明,本名叶昆灿,新加坡籍华人。1959年毕业于南洋大学中文系,中国语言文学系。

Yap Koon Chan or better known as LuoMing in the Chinese literature circle is an educator, an Chinese Literature scholar, and an Overseas Chinese Literature advocate. LuoMing graduated from the Singapore Nanyang University in 1959 in Chinese Language and Literature. LuoMing was awarded the distinguished alumni recognition by the Singapore Nanyang Technological University in 2012.

早年以教学为职,曾任特选中学公教中学校长与中正中学总校教务长。同时参与教师会的工作,约计22年,主编《南洋教育》、《新加坡青年》及编纂《中教文艺丛书》等,也多次出席世界性的教育会议。

He started his career as a teacher, and later as the provost of Chung Cheng High School Main campus in the 60s and as principal of Catholic High School in the 70s to 80s. Catholic High School, though as a Chinese medium school, adopted a bilingual education that was the front-runner to the present day bilingual education in Singapore. Under his leadership, the school excelled academically and nurtured many successful scholars and professionals.

He also founded the Teachers’ Association. For 22 years, he served and contributed to the Teachers’ Association. Then, he represented Singapore and the Teachers’ Association participated in several international conferences, and interacted with global educators. His published works during this period included “Nanyang Education” (editor), “Singapore Youths” (editor), and “Chinese Education Literature Series” (editor and publisher), etc..

骆明热心于新加坡的文艺事业,因此一路对新加坡的华文文艺特别关心,更付出了更多的时间与精神,为新加坡的华文文学工作。

As a cultural and literature enthusiast and educator, LuoMing is passionate about the development and continuation of Chinese literature in Singapore. Since graduation, he has devoted enormous time and energy to promote, to teach, to nurture the work of Chinese literature in Singapore.

于1980年发起、组织“新加坡文艺协会”,随即担任会长一职至2013年为止,主编《新加坡文艺》季刊、与《文艺报》(双月刊)总编,每年编辑出版约10册丛书及相关的出版工作,并发起、成立“新加坡华文文学馆”于2012年,作为新加坡出版著作的收藏及成为研究等工作的中心。“新加坡华文文学馆”开放给各国对新加坡华文文学有兴趣的研究者。

LuoMing founded the “Singapore Literary Association” in 1980, and served as President until 2013. He was the editor-in-chief of the quarterly magazine “Singapore Literature”, the monthly “Art & Literature Journal”. The organization’s mission was to promote Chinese language awareness with a goal to publish 10 books yearly. In 2012, LuoMing conceptualized and initiated the “Singapore Chinese Literature Museum” – a collection of published works in Singapore and a research center for Southeast Chinese literature. The Museum is accessible to scholars globally who are interested in studying and researching the work of Singapore and Southeast Asia Chinese literature.

此外,为了更好的推动与联络东南亚各国的华文文学的团体、作家,于1988年成立,即获选担任“亚细安华文文艺营”秘书长至2014年为止。也为了推动区域与海外华文文学的联系,与中、港、台加深了互访与交流,并经常出席参加国际华文文学研讨会。

In order to better promote and liaise with Chinese literature organizations and writers in Southeast Asian countries, LuoMing initiated the establishment of the ASEAN literature network. In 1988, he was elected as the secretary-general of the “ASEAN Chinese Literature Camp”, and held that position until 2014. Every country takes turns to host the writers from the other ASEAN nations each year for a series of meetings to exchange views and works. LuoMing continued to promote overseas Chinese literature beyond Singapore and Southeast Asia. He traveled to China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as attending literature seminars in other countries in the beat to broaden the awareness of Overseas Chinese Literature from Singapore and Southeast Asia.

骆明在8月9日2014年(新加坡国庆日)荣获新加坡政府颁发的‘公共服务星章’(BBM)。这个星章是我国颁给有贡献的公民的第二高的奖项。这是奖励他40年来推动新加坡及区域的华文文学所作的工作。

LuoMing was commemorated the ‘Public Service Star’ (Bintang Bakti Masyarakat) issued by the Singapore government on the National Day in 2014. It is the-second-highest award awarded by the Singapore government to its citizens in recognition of the contribution the individual done for the country. This is to reward him for his work in promoting Chinese literature in Singapore and the region for 40 years.

在这40年来,骆明积极落实各种活动和出版书刊,推广本地优秀文学作品、培养学生群对文学的兴趣和为记录本地作品的工程做出贡献。骆明也在2011年获得新加坡孔子学院颁发的“南洋华文文学奖。另外,也在2012年获得南洋大学颁给校友最高等的”卓越成就奖“。也在2014年获得由亚细安文艺营颁发的”亚细安文学奖”。

Over the past 40 years, LuoMing has worked ceaselessly to promote local literary works and cultivate students’ interest in literature and culture.

In 2011, LuoMing was presented with the “Nanyang Chinese Literature Award” by the Confucius Institute in Singapore. The year after, he was recognized with the highest “Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award” from Nanyang Technological University. In 2014, he was honored with the “ASEAN Literature Award” by the ASEAN Chinese Literature Camp.
